Trilobites
Order Asaphida Suborder Asaphina, Superfamily Trinucleioidea,
Family Uncertain, but perhaps Asataspididae
Geologic Age: Upper Cambrian to Lower Ordovician
Trilobite is 75 mm long
Jebel Saghrou, Morocco
Remarks: This is an undescribed species from asaphid Superfamily Trincleioidea,
and a large trilobite at that. For sure it is a primitive version among
trinuceids. Note the presence of a typical
occipital spine is noted,
but the
absence of pitting
on the cephalic ring,
a trait that evolved later.
