Trilobites
Order Corynexochida Suborder Corynexochina, Superfamily Corynexochoidea,
Family Dorypygidae
Geologic Age: Middle Cambrian
Trilobite is 45 mm long
Spence Shale, Box Elder County, Utah
Remarks The genus Ogygopsis is also found in British Columbia in an area
near the Burgess Shale named the Ogygopsis Shale
because of the commonality of the genus there. Ogygopsis is also unusual
among Cambrian trilobite because the
pygidium
is
macropygous,
that is, the pygidium is the larger than the cephalon.
